These WWII Germans and Russians by First Legion are without a doubt some of the nicest toy/model soldiers I have yet seen produced (IMO). I don't yet own any but hope to add a few to my collection soon. They don't come cheap but the quality speaks for itself!
While today's choices for toy and model soldiers are almost endless, I still think there is a certain charm about GLOSS painted toy soldiers, particularly the original offerings from one of the oldest toy soldier companies in the world, William Britain's.
Here are a couple of pics of two of my personal favourite Britain's original GLOSSY sets, 'Arabs of the Desert' and 'French Foreign Legion'. While these sets are 'repaints' they still have that nostalgic and collectible toy quality that makes you want to lie on the floor and play with them!
Made by Andrew Rose of the UK a few years ago now in true 54mm scale (original Britain's size) were a lovely range of GLOSSY Boxer Rebellion models in marching poses. All the major European nations were depicted along with a large variety of Boxers and the range was very collectible and extremely colourful.
Not too sure if Andrew still produces these models but if someone out there knows please let me know???
